This month’s captioning agent spotlight shines on Julie Nuttall.
Julie’s been captioning for Sorenson for more than five years now, and her manager says she stands out as someone always willing to help out and go the extra mile: taking on last minute jobs, mentoring fellow captioning agents and offering them tips and tricks, as well as being among the first to sign up for additional captioning training.
Julie describes captioning as a dream job for her because it’s introvert-friendly and detail-oriented. She says she was looking for a career like this for almost a decade before finding her place at Sorenson.

“I love vicariously learning so much about the realities of people and the world in ways I otherwise may have never discovered while helping make the world a better place by helping people better connect.”
With health issues of her own and a shy personality, Julie says she appreciates how her work as a captioning agent gives her the same feeling of connection that it provides for the people she serves.
CaptionCall by Sorenson uses a mix of skilled captioning agents like Julie and Automatic Speech Recognition software to produce live captions of phone conversations. Our CaptionCall Mobile mobile app uses only ASR technology to generate captions of cell phone calls.
