Julie started working with CaptionCall in 2015. She says she has left and come back since then but has been with the company for a total of about 6–7 years. “I had never done anything like this before, so I thought it would be a great opportunity.”
“What inspires and helps me to connect with our users is knowing I’m providing a service that helps so many people communicate with the most important people in their lives. The best part of my job is when I hear customers get excited about communicating with someone that they had difficulty communicating with prior to having access to captions. There have been times when someone said “Thank you, captioner!” at the end of a call or a student’s class and that is so rewarding!”

Aside from her passion for her work, Julie is an animal lover. “As you can see, I love dogs… especially senior dogs. There are so many in shelters that need a home and should enjoy their final days in a home! … And my yard is dedicated to feeding and helping the birds!”
When Julie isn’t providing you with reliable captions, she is in her garden or enjoying the outdoors by camping and hiking.
Reflecting on her job offer, Julie says CaptionCall was very flexible. “[It] just fit my life’s schedule at the time… CaptionCall allows a great work life balance.” She explain that the freedom to go out into her garden or for a stroll on her breaks helps her do her best work at home. “That’s especially helpful after a difficult call or challenging class or conference,” says Julie.
