Sorenson and Gallaudet University

Gallaudet University opened in 1864 as a higher education institution dedicated to the Deaf community. Sorenson and Gallaudet University have collaborated to benefit the Deaf community since Sorenson opened its doors more than 20 years ago.

Collaborating for Success

Since Sorenson opened more than 20 years ago, we’ve shared Gallaudet University’s commitment to the Deaf community.

Sorenson’s first VRS call center was located on the Gallaudet campus. And many of our most-tenured ASL interpreters were Gallaudet students who worked as interpreters and at the campus call center.

Our Collaboration

Since the beginning of our collaboration with Gallaudet, Sorenson has invested in nurturing our shared commitment.

In June 2022, Gallaudet University and Sorenson launched a strategic partnership. That partnership includes a series of initiatives to aid collaboration between the Deaf and the businesses and institutions they interact with. The first initiative was a $3 million endowment gift from Sorenson to support the growth of the Center for Black Deaf Studies.

Sorenson and Gallaudet look forward to many more years of working together. We plan to collaborate on more initiatives with a focus on diversity and jobs and career opportunities
