Sorenson Video Relay Service System Status
Sorenson VRS supports communication between Deaf and hearing people through ASL-interpreter phone calls.
If there’s a Sorenson VRS outage, we’ll report it here.
Currently, Sorenson VRS service is available and all systems are functioning normally. There are no service outages planned at this time.
Calling during a VRS outage
If you cannot make a VRS call because of a Sorenson service outage, these are alternative options to place a call.
Use TTY
A TTY is still a reliable way to communicate when VRS is not available. You can dial 711 from any phone in the U.S. to access TTY service.
Voice call to 911
If you dial 911 on a mobile phone or landline phone from the location of the emergency and stay on the line, the emergency call center will send help to your location even without you speaking to the dispatcher.
Text-to-911
Some emergency call centers now accept text messages. If you cannot make a call, you can text for help if your 911 center offers text-to-911 service. You can download a list of participating locations from the FCC website.
