Tony Lee Tells His Hearing Loss Story

“Myself, I’m at the age of 60 — I don’t appear to be 60. I’m in New York. I’m in Queens, outside Emerald City, or Manhattan.
What I did was the first Gulf War, 1990 to ‘91. I was a first responder paramedic. My hearing loss is probably because I was on the flight line. A lot of people that work on the flight line operations get hearing loss because they’re around very, very noisy jet-fueled planes.
Twelve years ago, I had a form of terminal illness. I had nasal pharyngeal throat cancer. After my treatment had gotten worse, and after the treatment protocols, I developed tinnitus and I totally lost hearing on the left ear now.
I’m a hearing person. I still like to listen to the radio. Now, what helps me, when I go to these noisy, noisy colosseum arena concerts, I could sit in the front with no problem!
I’d love to have back 100% hearing, but it’s not happening anytime soon. It’s a permanent loss and I live with it. Closed captioning really makes communication, by reading it, easier.
My thought is that you provide a very good service for the Veteran community who’s hearing impaired to utilize, and I wish everybody knows about it. You’ve got a very good product, I think you should market it more at the VA hospital, especially near the audiology section.
Thank you. Bye-bye.”
