If you’re a fan of Marvel, and watched the Hawkeye TV series, you’ll see a familiar face in the upcoming show. Alaqua Cox, who played a gang leader in Hawkeye, is getting a series of her own in Marvel Studios’ Echo.
The show will focus on Cox’s character, Maya Lopez, as she faces her past and reconnects with her Native American roots.
Alaqua Cox is Native American herself and Maya/Echo is her first acting role. At the Hawkeye premiere she told Variety she’s excited for the support and to advocate for the Deaf community.
You can watch it on Disney+ starting in January 2024. Congratulations to Alaqua Cox, and hooray for more Deaf actors in lead roles.
