What mobile devices are compatible with CaptionCall Mobile?
The CaptionCall Mobile app supports any smartphone or tablet running iOS 15 or later and Android 9 or later.
Is there any cost for the CaptionCall Mobile app?
No. CaptionCall Mobile is a no-cost federally funded service for individuals with hearing loss who need captions to use the phone effectively.
What phone number do I use with CaptionCall Mobile?
Our live caption app automatically assigns you a new number. However, you can easily forward incoming calls to your current phone number with a simple setting in the app.
How can CaptionCall be no-cost?
CaptionCall is part of the federal government’s Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS) program, part of a mandate of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure people with hearing loss have equal access to telephone calls.
The funding for the service comes from fees the FCC collects from telecommunications companies. The FCC uses that funding to reimburse each minute of captioning service Sorenson provides instead of customers paying for it out of pocket. This is why the service is only available to people with hearing loss who need captions to use the phone.
