Honoring Claude Stout

At the TDI conference in July, Lance Pickett, our Chief Relationship Officer, honored longtime Executive Director of Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. (TD) Claude Stout. Lance shares in the video what he most admires about Claude.
Claude was a tireless advocate for the accessibility needs of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Some highlights of his more than two decades at TDI:
- Chaired the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Consumer Advocacy Network (DHHCAN) for 18 years.
- Joined the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology to address technology gaps as the nation migrated to Internet-based digital technologies and to advocate for the Communications and Video Accessibility Act, which ensured accessibility to modern telecommunications to people with disabilities.
- Since 2000, TDI invited partner organizations to join its advocacy efforts for captioning and access to copyrighted digital media content under Fair Use laws, such as for braille copies, and draft filings with the FCC.
Sorenson is proud to carry on the legacy of advocating for better approaches to accessibility through our efforts to search for new and better ways to provide interpreting and captioning to Deaf and hard-of-hearing people worldwide.
