Sorenson Communications recently received the 2008 California Educators for the Deaf (CAL-ED) Contributor of the Year Award for outstanding contributions to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in the areas of education and supporting the “field of deafness” for at least three years.

Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. (TDI) honored Sorenson Communications for its second-generation videophone, the Sorenson VP-200®. TDI presented Sorenson Communications with the Andrew Saks Engineering Award, which recognizes outstanding design, electronics, or engineering that improves access to telecommunications for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

The Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) For Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults presented Sorenson Communications with a plaque of appreciation for its generosity in providing technology and support to the educational facility over the past few years. Sorenson Communications donated 33 VP-200 videophones and televisions to accompany them to the HKNC for use by deaf-blind students and deaf-blind and deaf staff members who use Sorenson Video Relay Service®.
